Who We Support

Charitable Donations

The Rushmore German Club believes helping others creates a stronger community, and in that spirit strives to donate the proceeds from the Sommerfest to various charitable organizations. The following organizations received $6,000 in donations from the Rushmore German Club in 2017.

Allied Arts Fund
Providing operating and promotional support for eleven arts organizations, as well as funding for other non-profit, grassroots community art projects in the Black Hills.

Apolda-Rapid City Sister City
The Sister City program brings diverse cultures together. Rapid City has been a Sister City to Apolda, Germany since 1994.

Black Hills Works
Black Hills Works in Rapid City, South Dakota, provides quality, person-centered services and supports to adults with disabilities. They serve over 600 individuals age 16 and older with various disabilities including learning and developmental disabilities, visual and hearing impairments, brain injury, chronic mental illness, physical impairments, and others.

Crisis Intervention Shelter Services
The mission of the Crisis Intervention Shelter Service, Inc. is to eliminate the personal and societal conditions embedded in the fabric of our communities that support and condone violence against women.

Ft. Meade Veterans Hospital and Hospice
Provides primary and secondary medical and surgical care, along with residential rehabilitation treatment program (RRTP) services, extended nursing home care and tertiary psychiatric inpatient care services for veterans living in the region.

Hope Center
The HOPE Center is a drop-in day center which offers unduplicated, unique, and crucial services in the community for those living in poverty and without homes. The primary objective of the HOPE Center is to establish relationships with the disadvantaged in our community, provide an environment of respect and encouragement, and to be a constant in the lives of those who often times lack stability and consistency.

Hospice of the Hills
The goal of hospice is to enable patients to continue an alert, pain-free life and to manage other symptoms so that their last days may be spent with dignity and quality, surrounded by their loved ones.

M.E.A.L.S. Program (Meals on Wheels)
This is a service of Western South Dakota Senior Services, Inc., a private, non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the well-being of senior citizens through nutritious meals, nutrition education, socialization and other supportive services.

Meeting the Need
To provide a unique and readily accessible “Adventure Retreat” destination geared towards individuals and/or groups with special needs.

Operation Black Hills Cabin
Operation Black Hills Cabin is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to provide a comfortable, peaceful and supportive respite to qualified, combat-injured veterans and their families, from the Iraq/Afghanistan operations, in their rehabilitation from their traumatic and stressful experiences while serving the interests of our Nation.

Working Against Violence, Inc. (WAVI)
WAVI’s primary purpose is to assist women and children in crisis situations by providing temporary emergency shelter, food, and/or supportive services, and to educate the community on the issues of battering.

Youth and Family Services
Supporting children and their families in being capable,caring, and contributing members of the community.
