Charitable Donations

The Rushmore German Club believes helping others creates a stronger community, and in that spirit strives to donate the proceeds from the Sommerfest to various charitable organizations. The following organizations received $6,000 in donations from the Rushmore German Club in 2022.

Apolda-Rapid City Sister City program brings diverse cultures together. Rapid City has been a Sister City to Apolda, Germany since 1994.

Cornerstone Rescue Mission is the main provider of shelter and the only free source of meals for the homeless in the Black  Hills region.  The main facility houses as many as 160 homeless men nightly and feeds twice that many.

Crisis Intervention Shelter Services’ mission is to eliminate the personal and societal conditions embedded in the fabric of our communities that support and condone violence against women.

Feeding South Dakota assists in providing temporary food assistance to approximately 21,000 hungry individuals and families in our state and the BackPack Program gives food every weekend to over 4,000 kids who otherwise might go hungry.

The HOPE Center is a drop-in day center which offers unduplicated, unique, and crucial services in the community for those living in poverty and without homes. The primary objective of the HOPE Center is to establish relationships with the disadvantaged in our community, provide an environment of respect and encouragement, and to be a constant in the lives of those who often times lack stability and consistency.

The Humane Society of the Black Hills is dedicated to finding homes for the over 1,800 animals we take in each year from Rapid City and the surrounding areas.

M.E.A.L.S. Program (Meals on Wheels) is a service of Western South Dakota Senior Services, Inc., a private, non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the well-being of senior citizens through nutritious meals, nutrition education, socialization and other supportive services.

Mommy’s Closet is a free crisis resource provider that lends a helping hand to moms, dads, and families with children under the age of five.

Operation Black Hills Cabin is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to provide a comfortable, peaceful and supportive respite to qualified, combat-injured veterans and their families, from the Iraq/Afghanistan operations, in their rehabilitation from their traumatic and stressful experiences while serving the interests of our Nation.

SunCatcher Therapeutic Riding Academy is a non-profit organization that provides equine-assisted therapeutic horsemanship to people with disabilities.

Working Against Violence, Inc. (WAVI) assists women and children in crisis situations by providing temporary emergency shelter, food, and/or supportive services, and to educate the community on the issues of battering.

 WellFully helps over 300 youth ages 10-17 experiencing mental health, behavioral an/or substance abuse challenges.
